Monigong cut off

AALO, Jun 23: Monigong, the interior most circle of West Siang district is cut off from the rest of the country due to blockage on Monigong-Karle and Karo-Jorang road caused by major landslides and erosion.

The situation has worsened yesterday night when the 30 metres formation cutting at a road near Azad Camp at Bure has been completely washed away by incessant rain. The EAC Monigong was pursuing with BRO and district administration for early restoration of road communication.

People from the two circles of Pidi and Monigong are facing hardship to reach the headquarters to procure their daily needs,

Landslides, erosions and mud accumulations along the road have snapped communication and have become regular phenomenon. This is happening mainly due to absence of proper drainage system and retaining walls on the entire stretch of the road, said the local people. DIPRO

Notice served to livestock owners

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: The curator of Biological Park here has served notice to the livestock owners of all the nearby areas to evacuate their animals from Zoo area by June 30 next. It cautioned that after the final date, animals will be executed if seen inside the premises of the Zoo wall.

In its final notice, it stated that the animals often cause damages to the lives and properties of the Zoo.

Traffic restricted

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: The PWD Capital Division-A has restricted the movement of vehicles on Donyi-Polo road from June 24 for early launch and execution of 14-mtr bailey bridge. The department requested the people of Donyi-Polo school area to bear the inconvenience.

Harassment to paper circulation boys resented

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: The media fraternity has expressed shock over the complaint received from an agent-cum-distributor of few local dailies that while distributing newspapers with his vehicle in Naharlagun D-sector on the morning of June 19, when the BJP had given a bandh call, some bandh enforcers had snatched away the bags and newspapers from the circulation boys.

It is regrettable that the BJP is not aware that media is exempted during bandh.

For the loss caused and harassment meted out to the circulation boys, the BJP should tender a written apology or else the media would be free to take its own decision, stated APC president Chopa Cheda on behalf of the media fraternity.

Anti-Malaria month observed

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: The Anti-Malaria month was observed by the East Siang District at Namey Village under Nari CHC on June 18 last.

Speaking on the occasion, DMO Dr. M Perme advised the public to keep the surrounding clean so as to avoid mosquito breeding. He further called upon the health workers and ASHAs to render service for public with proper records and also advised the public to use the distributed LLIN properly and allow the DDT spray inside the room.

Ruksin ZPM T Panyang advised the community to fight against malaria. He also highlighted the role of PRI members, ASHAs and public for successful implementation of health programmes.

Nari-Seren Block ZPM K Dabi said no one should die or suffer due to malaria. He called for proper drainage system in all the villages to reduce the mosquito breeding and take better precaution.

M Loyi, ADC Ruksin said that mosquito cannot be killed completely but we can reduce the disease and mosquito breeding. Among others, Medical Officers from various health centres attended the programme.

Meanwhile, the District Vector Borne Disease Control Programme Officer, Yupia organised malaria awareness programme with distribution of long lasting insecticide nets (LLINs) at Lora village under Kimin Community Health Centre as part of anti-malaria month observation.

During the day long programme, TP Tara, DVBC consultant appealed to the public to co-operate with Indoor Residual Spray (IRS) teams by allowing them to spray DDT as per requirement in their dwelling places. He suggested them to sleep under mosquito nets and remove stagnant water in their surroundings to prevent mosquito breeding.

Solar lamps distributed to villagers

TEZU, Jun 23: Anjaw Deputy Commissioner Nyabin Ete has distributed solar lamps for Kasongglat villagers in a simple function recently to mark the Anudin. Bellai Welfare Association secretary Mantaw Bellai received the lamps in presence of social workers Sujata and Chinmay Panth.

The DC appreciated the Art of Living for reaching out to rural populace of the border area. While interacting with the social workers, he assured all possible assistance from the administration in social welfare activities. Chinmay requested the Govt and NGOs to focus on empowering Arunachal with more skill development programs for the youths.

Lohit DMO Dr Karrik Basar and RWD EE Er Taru Dok, Advocate Tiamso Boo and community members appreciated the initiatives of the administration and NGOs for providing solar lamps to the villagers.

Solar lamps were also handed over to all the families of Soiliang village which was received by Gram Panchayat Member Bakalum Bellai.

Cancellation of work order against school construction sought

NAHARLAGUN, Jun 23: The Upper Subansiri district unit of BJP in a complaint letter to Upper Subansiri DC has sought immediate cancellation of work order issued against construction of school building at Dayam under Sippi-II Gram Panchayat saying that the village has not been mentioned in the approved list of district and state PAB 2014-15.

The party said that there are already four primary schools in the same Panchayat segment i.e, Dadi, Rikung, Guha, Lokar-Rijo and therefore, there is no need to establish another at Dayam village, which it further claimed has a very low population.

While alleging the DDSE-cum-DPO and district coordinator cum-BO of misusing the SSA funds and not adhering to government norms while selecting villages for establishment of primary and upper primary schools, the party further urged the concerned authorities to immediately constitute an enquiry committee for carrying out site verification to determine the feasibility of establishing a new primary school in the said village.

Union writes to DC, seeks early road construction

KOLORIANG, Jun 23: Expressing concern over the inordinate delay in construction of the Trans Arunachal Highway between Joram and Koloriang, the All Kurung Kumey District Students’ Union (AKKDSU) has in a release today urged the Kurung Kumey DC to direct the construction agencies to begin work in the said portion of road soon.

The AKKDSU said that though the funds for road construction has been already sanctioned by the BRO during the financial year 2013, work on it is yet to begin, which has further been causing much hardship to the commuters.

Fish farmer’s training-cum- demonstration progamme

YINGKIONG, Jun 23: Training on quality Fish seeds production was conducted today at DFDO's office Yingkiong.

Forty trainees participated in the training-cum-demonstration on various topics including breeding of common carp, Chinese hatchery, post breeding management of fish seed, nursery management field demonstrations on fish breeding. There was an interactive session and group discussion.

The inaugural function was chaired by O. Pertin DIPRO who advised the trainees to learn the techniques thoroughly in order to become successful fish farmers.

Gindu Tayeng ADTH, Menya Ete ADO and Ameng Nangkar ADO also took part in the deliberation and advised the farmers to make best use of the training to improve their economic condition.

AAPLU writes to CM

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) in a letter to the Chief Minister has requested him to give strict and specific direction to concern officers to vacate the labour barracks in all districts and one labour guest house at Itanagar with immediate effect so that the working class could get accommodation in the labour barracks.

In its letter, the AAPLU alleged that “labour barracks in all districts and the labour guest house at Itanagar are still occupied by the contractor concerned even after receiving their full bills for the reason best known to them”. It further said the labourers are still deprived of Govt accommodation and living in private rented accommodations.

Relief sought for fire victim

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: A joint team of All Papum Poma Students' Union (APPSU) and Hina Camdir Tok, spokesperson, APCC today distributed relief materials to the fire victim at Langdung village under Sangdupota circle in Papum Pare district. A dwelling house of Tasi Tanyor was reduced to ashes in the fire mishap at around 11:30 PM yesterday in the village, APPSU informed.

Meanwhile, the team members requested the authorities to provide immediate relief for the fire victims. It also urged the district administration to take effective measures to prevent recurrence of such fire mishap in future.

Compensation sought

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: Claiming that more than 15 houses, private as well as government quarters, in the lower side of Kime-Paka colony here, were damaged in last night’s heavy storm, the Itanagar City Development Welfare Association (ICDWA) has sought immediate relief for the victim family. It wrote to the DC Capital in this regard.

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: The State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed the 62nd death anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.

First Lady visits Oju Mission

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: The First Lady of the State Rita Rajkhowa, who is also Chairperson of Muskaan Welfare Society (MWS) visited the Oju Mission, Naharlagun today. She was accompanied by the MWS members.

On her maiden visit to the Centre, she interacted with the children of the Shishu Grah (orphanage), school children and inmates of short stay home. As a token, she donated food items on the occasion.

The First Lady was pleased to learn about the endeavour of the institute and the dedication showed by its staff. She said that the love and affection that she received on the visit day was like a treasure which she will always cherish. Praying for the good health of Oju Welfare Association‘s founder Bini Yanga, she commended her for carrying forward the work of service to the humanity with devotion.

Meet for consolidation of Perspective Plan and Vision Document

AALO, Jun 23: The Zilla Parishad meeting for consolidation of all need based rural schemes was held under the chairmanship of West Siang Zilla parishad Chairperson Yaman Bagra here yesterday.

All HoDs, administrative officers of the circles and subdivisions, ZPMs, BDOs and ASCs attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the ZPC reiterated that many schemes prepared by the HoDs are not done in consultation with the PRIs to avoid duplicacy and accomodate the interest of the rural people. PRIs and HoDs have to work hand in glove to address the woes of the rural masses, she said. West Siang ADC and DPDO Tamik Talom urged the HODs to incorporate the schemes and resolutions in Gram Sabha, Anchal Samiti and Zilla Parishad in the perspective plan and vision documents avoiding duplicacy. He stressed on timely submission of proposals to avoid heavy rush in the fag end of deadline given by the Govt.

Arunachalee footballer to represent India at Spain

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: Giken Kambu Bogum, 17, of Arunachal Pradesh will represent the country in Madrisur Cup - Madrid and Youth Soccer Challenge Trophy, Barcelona being held from June 21 to July 3.

He is the son of Yasa Kambu and Pugi Kambu Bogum of Liromoba in West Siang district and lone player from North East to represent the country in the tournament, informed Galo Welfare Society.

Giken is a student of Maan Public School New Delhi. "It is a proud moment for all of us," said GWS in Giken's selection in the national U-17 and U-19 team. GWS wished him all the best for the tournaments.

Improve BSNL service

The recent decision of BSNL to launch free roaming facility, allowing all its mobile customers across the country to receive incoming calls at no cost is a very good initiative and should be welcomed by everyone. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had made an announcement to this effect on the 2nd of this month. As per the news report, BSNL is planning to put up 5,000 Base Transceiver Station towers across the country to provide better services to its customers. Telecom minister deserves round of applause for trying to revive BSNL and make it more effective.

In most of the interior areas especially in North East region large number of people depends on BSNL for connectivity. Urgent need to revamp BSNL was felt as it is giving below par service to the customers. In our state Arunachal too, big chunk of population depends on BSNL. In interior areas it is the only source of connectivity to the outside world. However, customers often complain about poor and erratic service. Even in district headquarters BSNL has not been able to improve the service. They need to address these concerns at the earliest and provide better service to the customers of Arunachal. Hopefully under the new telecom minister, in coming days the service of BSNL will improve in our state too.

Baseless political allegation

Dear Editor,

This is in reference to a news item in your esteemed daily on 18th June 2015 with caption “Forum Alleges Nepotism, favouritism by Rumgong MLA”. The allegation is totally baseless and has no iota of truth. It is the expression of frustration by some failed individuals and these individuals must not find place in public expression.

Real residents of 32-Rumgong Constituency do not know any such forum called 32nd Rumgong People’s Forum which is non-existent. Forum of people must be for betterment of people represented. Only a few destructive individuals cannot coin a name and defame the whole community of 32-Rumgong Constituency. People will never forgive them and will not allow their evil design to succeed against development and the desperate attempt with imaginary allegations to tarnish the image of our visionary MLA Tamiyo Taga who is capable to bring developments to people in spite of all odds and political disadvantages.

No other MLA except Tamiyo Taga initiated or brought development works. Patum and Paksing Bridge, Road Links under PMGSY, CRF, SPA, NLCPR, BADP, apart from many path breaking administrative and other establishments are prime examples of developmental works he has brought in during his long political life. He has sacrificed for people of 32-Rumgong without building even a house for himself.

Therefore, we the people of 32-Rumgong reject the allegation as it are without any basis and with no truth at all. People of 32-Rumgong also denounced the non-existent forum called “32nd Rumgong People’s Forum”. The evil anti-people individuals must come out in front of real people of 32-Rumgong and explain at what platform the forum was formed and why they cannot be sued in court of law for defaming the whole community for their cheap and illogical attempt to gain political relevance.

Materialism and industrialisation

Dear Editor,

When we go back to the early civilization of India we find that people were innocent, self-sufficient and idyllically blissful. They were very close to nature as necessary needs were fulfilled by it but as they took interest towards the western concept of development which is purely based on the materialistic world, things changed. Scientific development has made people rational but as concepts of modernism says people use their knowledge for their own interests, people became selfish, started losing their morality and innocence as they focus on immoral activities like making arms, bombs etc. which affect the lives of the people.

Modernization, industrialization is an illusionary concept as it may seem comfortable and easy but on the contrary it affects our lives badly. People became lazy and they did not want to do their own duty. Due to industrialization, railways have come to us which are an easy way for us to travel but there are many negative aspects of industrialization and modernization. I know my view will surely contradict with the views of the younger generation but one day they will surely understand. When materialistic development reaches the highest point and everything will be done by machines then that day we will want to go back to the original state of nature but it’s not possible.

Arunachal is still close to nature. Don’t ruin it by industrialization and materialistic development.

I am sure materialistic development will occur someday in Arunachal Pradesh but it will be wise to avoid such development for as long as possible.

We are glad that people across the globe celebrated June 21st as International Yoga Day. We can say with pride that Yoga which is a way of life for many, has its origins in India & has spread its wings across the globe. But sadly it is still often incorrectly linked with religion. It is but a science of well-being, which integrates the body, mind and soul.

It is said “ Gym is for the hardware(Body) & Yoga is for the software (Mind).”

Today’s youth need to arise, awake, harness and experience the power of yoga & become spiritual dynamites rather than being addicted to the Smartphone Yoga Mudra using only their index finger all the time.

Do not politicise my son’s death: a father’s plea

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: The family members of Late Badur Rakshap, a class V student of VKV Nirjuli who drowned at Damsite River, Naharlagun on June 19 has called on the political parties not to politicise the tragic death of their son.

Without naming political parties, Kiba Rakshap, the bereaved father said “the act of dragging the matter into politics increases our difficulties and remind us of the tragic day. I do beg with my folded hands; please do not politicise the tragedy of my beloved son”.

The father further “requests everyone not to drag on my son's misfortune. I do not encourage or need any favour from the political parties. Instead of war of words, blame game, please pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul of my son”.

In a message, the father writes, “my silent prayer is always with my loving son for peace in the next world”.

The BJYM and Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee’s frontals wings have been engaged in unwarranted war of words over the tragic demise of the school boy. The Congress wings accuse the BJP of involuntarily causing the death of the young boy because of a Capital Bandh Call on June 19, which was not a holiday. BJYM decries the claim.

One arrested for attempting to molest Arunachalee trainee

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: An Arunachalee girl is reported to have survived a molestation attempt in Delhi on Monday, June 22 by a caretaker of the Paying Guest accommodation she was staying in.

The accused indentified as Tula Kant 35 years old has been arrested and investigation is on, according to Robin Hibu, Joint Commissioner of Police and nodal officer for North East people.

A case under section 354 IPC (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) has been registered at Dwarka South Police Station.

The girl reportedly moved to Delhi few months ago for skill development training at VLCC Institution, Dwarka.

The Arunachal Students Union Delhi alleged that the male care taker has attempted to sexually molest the girl earlier as well where she is accommodated with other trainees as paying guests.

The students allege that there is no proper safety net for Arunachalee students in Delhi and the rescue teams were without proper guidance.

ASUD team demanded the VLCC authority to shift the entire batch of students to another accommodation where female care takers are employed.

The students had a warning for state government as well; “Cross check hostels and paying guests facilities before accommodating such large number of innocent students to ensure their safety”.

18 schools defunct in East Kameng

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: As many as 18 schools-17 Primary and a Middle school in East Kameng district are lying defunct mocking the SSA Mission that aims to provide elementary education for all children in the age group of 6 to 14 years by 2020.

As per the list prepared by the East Kameng DDSE on defunct schools in East Kameng district, a copy of which was made available to this daily by Seppa based NGO International Human Rights Association (IHRA), Govt. Primary Schools Pitchang, Pochung, Old Sopung, Kitchang under Bana block, Leme, Beyong, Papuwa Pabing, Wallong under Khenewa block, 12- Mile Camp under Seppa block, Tabri under Pipu block, Tungi, Venia, Govt. Middle School Tarwa Wangfo under Chayangtajo block, Tallo, Rapung, Tawe, Tara and Mlorang under Bameng block remained defunct w.e.f. June19, 2015.

While expressing grave concern over the future of the students and teachers of those defunct schools, the NGO, in a memorandum, has appealed to the Director of Elementary Education, GoAP to conduct a departmental inquiry to find the reasons behind the non-functioning of those schools and initiate disciplinary action against those staff responsible for it. It urged the DEE to do the needful to make these defunct schools functional at the earliest for the sake of the students.

Informing that some private schools are running in the district without government recognition and getting affiliation under CBSE, the NGO appealed to the DEE to initiate action against those schools under RTE Act.

Meanwhile, the NGO has also appealed the PDS dealers of East Kameng district to properly distribute the PDS items. Further, citing a DC order, it also requested for selling the PDS items as per Govt prescribed rates and not at a higher price.

Mossang calls for holistic policy for water conservation

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: “It is high time to frame innovative and holistic policy in order to maintain water and food security in the state’, said Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Kamlung Mossang.

Addressing the officers and officials WRD’s headquarter in Vivek Vihar, Mossang said, “Water has been a global issue because of its essentiality for the mankind and all living beings which is also contributing economy to the country. So, we need to conserve it by maintaining all the catchment area including lakes, springs etc. and preserve it to prevent from degradation”.

The demand of water, which is also required not only for drinking but also for irrigation purpose may increase in coming days because of growing population, he said adding time has come to work with other departments to maintain the water resources in the state.

Expressing serious concern over the present system prevailing in every department, which is one of the main loopholes behind slow progress of the development, the minister advocated, “We need to change our mindset and maintain work culture to make improvement of the department for the development of the state. The system should be improvised in political level also and from top to bottom level in order to execute policy in discipline manner”.

Citing example of Jadav Payeng, popularly known as ‘Forest Man of India’, who has single handedly planted more than 1300 acres of trees on the river island of Majuli to protect it from erosion, Mossang exhorted the engineers to adopt the traditional method of flood protection and irrigation where it is applicable.

While proposing for organising more such review meetings for the improvement of the department, WRD Parliamentary Secretary Gum Tayeng urged the SEs and EEs to work hard under the guidance of their senior officers. She also urged them to take feedbacks from villagers, farmers and panchayat leaders and maintain cordial relation with them.

“More than 80 per cent of the people in the state still depend upon agriculture. So, more inputs have to be given to this sector in order to enhance food security”, she said.

Discouraging on individual schemes, the Parliamentary Secretary also exhorted the engineers to make farmer friendly schemes so that the benefit may directly go to the community.

WRD secretary Geyum Padu requested the gathering not to deliberate much more on routine things like fact and figures rather asked them to deliberate upon failure in order to improvise themselves.

“Most of our people instead of enjoying their profession are concentrating more on posting places and position. Its high time to replicate good things and rectify the loopholes”, Padu said.

He further requested all to contribute more time to make the department viable for the state.

In his keynote address, WRD chief engineer (Western Zone) Likar Angu said the department has to prioritise services depending on the feed backs given by the farmers and environment has always to be taken into account while implementing projects.

“Lack of identifying appropriate site or projects is the main reason behind obtaining fewer funds in the department”, he told.

He further said, “In order to make ourselves competent to handle future challenges, we need to introspect ourselves in respect of administration, financial resources, human resources and field coverage in identification of projects”.

Informing that India is sufficient in food and is an exporter, the chief engineer told that the primary agriculture sector has changed because of increasing economy in secondary and tertiary sectors, decreased in agriculture labour shrinking in agriculture area. He added the production has increased due to technical inputs in management, seeds and fertilizers and irrigation.

He further added that the role of irrigation in development of Arunachal is to boost productivity and food security to the state, increase cropping intensity and its diversification, income generation and rural development and to mitigate deforestation because of jhumming.

WRD chief engineer (Eastern Zone) N Ngomdir and SE (HQ) Getom Borang also spoke on the occasion.

ABK seeks HM’s intervention on cop attack

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: A delegation of Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) today called on the Home Minister and sought his personnel intervention for arrest of miscreants who had attacked Benji Saroh, SI of Khonsa Police Station and his team at Joipur under Dibrugarh district, Assam on May 1 last.

The ABK also requested the Home Minister to take up the matter with Assam Govt authorities for punishment of the miscreants involved in the attack case and adequate compensation to Saroh for treatment besides necessary legal help.

Giving details of the incident, the ABK said that Saroh and his team were attacked by a mob while the team was coming back from Lengkat in Assam on its way to Khonsa after performing their official duty. A case was registered by Assam Police at Joipur PS case No. 39/2015 U/S 294/341/325/392/34/IPC on May 2 last but till date no arrest has been made. Infact, the service revolver of SI Benji Saroh which was snatched away by the miscreants have not been recovered yet. On the other hand, Benji Saroh is being repeatedly summoned by the Assam police on the plea of recording his statement which has become an act of harassment by the Assam Police, the ABK said.

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: Three staff of a local daily- Independent Review were physically assaulted and their belongings looted away yesterday night by three unknown miscreants in front of the office premises, barely few meters away from Police station here at Bank Tinali, Itanagar.

The three assaulted are Ranoj Neog, DTP operator along with office driver, Durlov Neog and his brother-in-law, Kon Neog.

The miscreants were allegedly inebriated and the incident took place near the bus stand at Bank Tinali. The incident took place at around 1.30 am when the office staff had completed their usual work and were leaving for final printing work at Nirjuli. Leaving them in a serious condition, the miscreants took away all the office properties that the victims possessed, including their mobile phone and money.

“The miscreants were teenagers under heavy influence of alcohol, Durlov one of the victims informed. “After finishing all the official work, we were about to leave for the printing at Nirjuli. Suddenly three teenagers rushed towards us and forcefully started frisking our pockets and took away our mobile phones and money and started beating us”.

“Somehow I managed to escape from the scene and called up the police station, but the miscreants fled away from the scene, before arrival of the police team,” he said.

Another victim, Ranoj Neog who has sustained severe physical injury has been referred for further medical treatment, while Durlov sustained a broken jaw and some bruises.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged at the Itanagar Police station under section 155/159/341/325/324/34 IPC.

Teachers urged to discharge duty

TAWANG, Jun 23: The role of parents, teachers, students and society as whole in uplifting education was discussed in a meeting organised by All Rheb-la Gangsum Students Union (ARGSU) at Government Secondary School, Mukto yesterday.

Tawang DDSE Open Tayeng who was also present in the meeting, exhorted the teachers to discharge their duty with outmost sincerity and dedication.

“Teaching is a dignified profession with paramount responsibility and should not be mistaken as a bread winning profession,” he said, while highlighting the role of teachers in moulding future of students.

“Teachers ought to carve a niche for themselves and earn the respect of the society through selfless and dedicated service rather than demanding respect. Respect is not something to be demanded but earned”, he said.

He assured all help from the education department to redress the core issues related to the school for its growth and development.

With regards to construction of the school boundary wall and other problems, the DDSE committed to pursue the matter issues with the authorities concerned.

Earlier, ARGSU president Lobsang Thupten highlighted the various problems faced by the school, like non-appointment of full-fledged headmaster, computer instructor, physical education teacher, lack of hostel facilities, school boundary wall and other infrastructural facilities and urged for early redressal of the problems.

Mukto GB Sangey Norbu called on the students to focus on their career and face problems with positive attitude while urging the parents to deter from providing the students with mobile phones, motor bikes and other gadgets which distracts them from studies.

Mukto secondary school headmaster in-charge Pema Dondup and Mukto ASM representative Pem Dhondup also spoke on the occasion.

Workshop on Digital India

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: A workshop on “Preparing North East for Digital India” was organised by National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communications & IT, Government of India in Guwahati Assam recently.

The workshop aimed at building overall capabilities in North East States to support the Digital India initiatives.

Digital India, a flagship programme of Government of India, aims to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy - Information Technology on three key vision areas of “Infrastructure as a Utility to Every Citizen”, “Governance and services on Demand” and “Digital Empowerment of Citizens”.

Discussions were held how to build capacity of North East in e-Governance, establish mechanism for empanelment of system integrators for North East Region to address the challenge of finding capable Sis, establishment of common SME (Small & Medium Enterprises) Policy for North East Region for promotion of SMEs and enhancing the agency base and explore low-cost telecom connectivity solutions available with TELCOs to meet North East region’s unique requirements of connectivity

The day-long workshop was attended by IT Secretaries of NE States, Director Generals and Directors of State Administrative Training Institutes of eight North East States, other Government organizations, IT Associations, Business Schools and Industry representatives viz., NIC, NIELIT, DOT, BSNL, C-DOT, DONER, STPI, NECTAR, NASSCOM, NISG, , Ubiquity Solutions, Microsoft, HP, TCS, WIPRO IL&FS, IIM-Shillong, IPE and IIIT, Hyderabad etc, according to a release from the Director of State council for IT & e-Governance, Department of Information Technology, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh.

AACWA calls upon members to maintain work quality

ITANAGAR, Jun 23: All Arunachal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) has urged contractors to execute works by maintaining quality as per Detailed Project Reports (DPR).

Saying that contractors are always blamed for any poor quality works, the AACWA said that the field engineers too are not less responsible for such inferior work quality as they do not visit or monitor works during the construction period.

Monitoring is the main tool for ensuring quality of works. But in our state, the field engineers, particularly junior engineers (JEs) are never seen visiting work sites to rectify any technical fault in construction, if any, the AACWA said in a release.

Further, the contractors have to satisfy the ministers, MLAs, bureaucrats and technocrats before getting any contract works. Moreover, the alleged high commission system at every step for obtaining work order has resulted in poor quality work in many projects, the contractors association said.

It also urged the tendering authorities to verify those firms and executing agencies from outside the state which participate in any bid.

Meeting on Vision Document 2030 for East Siang

PASIGHAT, Jun 23: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava has emphasised on preparing the Vision Document-2030 in a planned manner.

There should be more discipline in planning and expenditure with the increase in fund allocation and, therefore, the vision document 2030 has to be prepared in a planned manner, said Srivastava in a meeting to discuss on the Vision Document here today.

Since all Government transactions will be settled through banks, making everyone literate is of paramount importance, she said and urged all stakeholders to cooperate with the concern department in proper implementation of Saakhsar Bharat Mission. She also emphasised on implementation of social security schemes of the GOI. She appealed all to present only viable schemes or projects.

While participating in the meeting, MLA Kaling Moyong emphasised on improving the township roads, and inclusion of flyovers in the vision document to ease traffic in the future. He also opined for inclusion of schemes for improving water supply in view of the ever increasing population in the township.

DPO Ponung Boring highlighted on Niti Aayog, 14th Finance Commission and Arunachal Vision Document 2030. All the departments presented their documents in the meeting.

ADC Deepak Shindey informed that the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Acts, 2003 (COTPA) will be strictly implemented in the district. Smoking in public places will be prohibited and will try to make East Siang a smoking free district.
